The Physical Education Program received a grant for a pilot program for Moki Bands. Moki

bands are wearable technology that monitors steps and/or also heart rate. The students set

their own personal goals, see how they are performing and adjust their effort/performance

based on their data, giving them increased level of responsibility and individual goal setting in

relation to health/physical activity. This project aims to bring students together around

movement and play in physical education classes. With an added layer of data collection

students will be able to self-monitor their progress and set individual or even team goals. Based on the success of the pilot program the wearables could be used in other programs at the school or in the community, middle school athletics, before school programs, etc.
